What else are we doing during this summer program?
A fun under-the-sea activity that our teachers and children are working on every Thursday throughout the summer is a shoebox Ocean Habitat diorama. Each week as we learn more about ocean life, the children will create and add to their diorama
Besides learning about ocean life under the sea, LAPMS parents are invited to take their children to the beach or park giving them an opportunity to clean the environment. It’s a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time together, teach important lessons, and make a positive impact on the community. Let’s make this summer memorable, filled with learning and a shared commitment to preserving our precious oceans.

At Learn And Play Montessori Schools, we encourage our teachers to be CPR trained and certified. (CPR, of course, stands for “Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation”). Our teachers participated in Saturday trainings and our goal is to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and visitors.

At Learn And Play Montessori schools, we believe that fostering strong social skills is as important as academic development; this can be daycare / childcare, preschool, or kindergarten. We deploy age-appropriate ways and use age-appropriate methodologies. We prioritize creating a nurturing environment where young children can learn and practice essential social skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Practical life activities are an integral part of the Montessori curriculum. Through tasks like pouring, cleaning, and serving food, children develop essential social skills such as
grace, courtesy, and cooperation. These activities promote independence, self-control, and respect for others, laying the foundation for positive social interactions.
Grace and courtesy lessons are a fundamental part of our Montessori curriculum. Children learn and practice manners, respectful communication, and appropriate social behavior. They engage in activities that promote greeting others, expressing gratitude, and showing kindness. These lessons foster respect, empathy, and consideration for others, creating a positive social environment. We encourage parents to grace and courtesy at home as well.
Our toddler and Kindergarten programs incorporate collaborative projects and group activities that encourage teamwork, cooperation, and communication. Children work together on tasks, such as building structures, creating artwork, or solving problems, fostering a sense of shared responsibility and achievement. These experiences develop social skills, including effective communication, active listening, and the ability to work harmoniously in a group.

Maria Montessori emphasized the use of real materials in the classroom. She believed that imagination is the natural inclination of the child; it stems from what is real. To stimulate children’s imagination, give them real objects and a real understanding of the world.

What materials are used in our classrooms?
