Fall back to school to preschool, daycare, and childcare in Fremont, Dublin, and Danville, California - Mom shows her child a welcome sign.

Here are some tips on a smooth transition for going back to school this fall:

  • Open Communication: Begin by discussing the upcoming changes with your child. Montessori education encourages independence, so involving your child in the process fosters a sense of responsibility. Explain the new routine, emphasize the positive aspects of school, and address any concerns your child might have.
  • Introduce Practical Skills: Montessori philosophy emphasizes the development of practical life skills. Prepare your child for school by practicing activities such as putting on their own shoes and coat, using the bathroom independently, and packing their backpack with necessary items.
  • Create a Morning Routine: Establishing a consistent morning routine can help ease the transition. Encourage your child to wake up at a consistent time, have a healthy breakfast, and engage in calming activities before leaving for school.

As you prepare your child for this school year, remember to integrate Montessori principles into your home routine. Engaging in seasonal activities together not only nurtures your child’s curiosity and creativity but also strengthens your parent-child bond. By embracing the fall season with enthusiasm and a Montessori mindset, you’ll be setting the stage for a fulfilling educational experience for your child.

Ongoing Fun Summer Program at Learn And Play Montessori Schools

Learn And Play Montessori Schools’ summer marine biology program offers children a unique opportunity to explore and learn about marine life and ecosystems during the summer months. It provides a blend of education, adventure, and fun that can captivate and engage children’s interest in marine life. It allows them to explore their passion for the ocean and learn in an immersive and enjoyable environment.

Explore our daily fun activities!

  • Marine biology puzzles offer a fun and interactive way to learn about marine life. They combine education and entertainment, making the learning process engaging and enjoyable.
  • Sandbox marine biology activities offer a hands-on approach to learning. Children can physically manipulate the sand, water, and model organisms, providing a tangible experience that enhances understanding and retention of marine biology concepts.
  • Matching cards and object activities in marine biology provide a hands-on and interactive approach to learning. They promote memory retention, cognitive skills development, vocabulary expansion, and conceptual understanding while making the learning experience enjoyable and engaging.
  • Using marine-themed counting materials, such as sea animal toys or shells, provides visual representations that aid in counting and reinforce numerical concepts. Children can physically handle objects, move them around, and place them in order, fostering fine motor skills and sensory engagement.
  • Bead stringing involves manipulating small objects, which helps improve fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Children practice grasping, threading, and manipulating beads, enhancing their dexterity and finger control.
  • Engaging in magnet fishing involves physical activity, including casting the magnet, pulling it back, and reeling in the objects. This activity can contribute to improved coordination, strength, and overall physical fitness.

What else are we doing during this summer program?

A fun under-the-sea activity that our teachers and children are working on every Thursday throughout the summer is a shoebox Ocean Habitat diorama. Each week as we learn more about ocean life, the children will create and add to their diorama

The Magic of Montessori Material and Activities for Daycare, Preschool, and Kindergarten

Maria Montessori emphasized the use of real materials in the classroom. She believed that imagination is the natural inclination of the child; it stems from what is real. To stimulate children’s imagination, give them real objects and a real understanding of the world.

How is Montessori different from traditional preschool programs?Montessori classroom

Traditional classrooms often emphasize disembodied education and memorization with seated book learning. To the contrary, the Montessori approach embraces embodied education, the philosophy that movement and learning are tied together. Montessori learning is hands-on, experiential, and investigative.

Let’s discover the importance of Montessori materials in classrooms and their role in promoting hands-on learning, independent exploration, and cognitive development. Explore the diverse range of Montessori materials used in our classrooms and how they facilitate a holistic and engaging educational experience for children.

What materials are used in our classrooms?
Montessori materials are made from natural materials when possible: brass, wood, wicker, cotton, metal, and glass. All of these materials provide a multi-sensory experience for the child, and part of that is the visual appeal that results in a calm, prepared learning environment.

What are some common Montessori Activities?

  • Practical Life Activities: pouring, spooning, buttoning, sweeping, or watering plants. These activities promote fine motor skills, concentration, independence, and a sense of responsibility.
  • Sensorial Activities: by using Montessori Pink Tower, the Knobbed Cylinders, or the Color Tablets by allowing young children to distinguish and compare attributes such as size, shape, color, texture, weight, and sound.
  • Language Activities: by using sandpaper letters, movable alphabets, phonetic reading materials, and language games to promote language acquisition and literacy.
  • Math Activities: by using Number Rods, Golden Beads, and the Decimal System enable children to understand mathematical operations, place value, counting, sequencing, and arithmetic.
  • Cultural Activities: puzzle maps, explore nature, conduct experiments, or engage in artistic expression.
  • Fine Motor Activities: by using tweezers to transfer objects, lacing and threading activities, bead stringing, or using tongs to pick up objects.

Montessori materials are fundamental to the Montessori approach, providing children with a rich and stimulating educational environment. These purposefully designed materials support hands-on learning, sensorial development, sequential progression, independent exploration, and the cultivation of concentration. By incorporating Montessori materials into our classrooms, we create an engaging and holistic educational experience that nurtures children’s cognitive, social, and emotional growth, setting the stage for a lifelong love of learning.
