Welcome to Learn & Play® Pleasant Hill, an early childhood center serving families since 1984. We provide full-day care and learning for toddlers through kindergarten-aged children in a calm, structured setting where routines are clear, teachers are present, and children feel safe to explore and grow.
Our campus is especially known for its long-tenured teaching team. Six educators have been here for more than twenty years, including one who has supported Pleasant Hill children for over four decades. Their consistency helps children settle comfortably, adjust to school routines, and build trust with adults who guide them each day.

Center Programs
Toddler
Our Toddler Montessori Program is a fun, loving, and respectful place for our youngest students to become independent and self-confident individuals. Our daycare and childcare programs are Montessori-inspired, and offer best-in-class daycare and childcare for toddlers in Fremont, Dublin, and Danville, California. We encourage them to explore their rich classroom environments by making their own choices from among a wide variety of developmentally appropriate materials.
Our resourceful Toddler classrooms promote language, math, practical life exercises, science, and the arts as well as fine and gross motor activities. Individual attention is paid to promoting each child’s emerging language skills and each child’s curiosity to explore all of the learning materials and the outdoors. The primary goal is to support the children’s physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth and to nurture their sense of being in a secure and stimulating environment.
Preschool
Our preschool program (available at our Danville, Fremont, and Dublin campuses) provides an enriching hands-on learning experience with specially formulated Montessori materials for math, language, sensorial exploration, practical life activities, art, science, second language, music, history, and geography.
Our preschool children develop observation and problem-solving skills. They are able to achieve this by manipulating, experimenting, and discovering through Montessori materials and prepared environment. Children begin to move from the concrete to the abstract as they prepare for the more complex studies used in our Montessori Kindergarten program.
After School Care

Center Director
Chris LaGrave has worked with children for 36 years and been at her current school for 34 years, both as a teacher and as a director. She helped facilitate the school to be accredited with NAEYC and our center received the best childcare center that same year by the Contra Costa Childcare Council. She also brings to his director’s role a master's degree in child/adolescence psychology.
